[Mgs] Vacuum Leak

Thanks to all responding to my previous query. I believe several of you were correct that my air leak might be around the throttle shafts. While spraying wd40 at the throttle shaft stub, the car runs and revs beautifully. The bushings must be the culprit.
Someone mentioned that several folks on the list were adept at rebushing these carbs. I would appreciate your suggestions assuming you do not recommend the job for amateurs like me.
Is there any temporary fix or trick that would work for a month or so as I would love the be driving in this wonderful North Carolina fall weather. Maybe a heavy grease around the exposed shafts?? Please don't ridicule me if it's a stupid idea.
Also the jet tubes don't go down when the choke is pulled out. Is there an easy solution for that?
Thanks again.
