Bad welds on aftermarket exhaust systems are, unfortunately,
commonplace. I doubt you'll get relief from your supplier.

Fixing issues like this are one of the reasons I bought a cheap MIG
welder and got into welding. I actually 'fabbed' my BJ8's exhaust with
pipes from a defunct ANSA system and some glasspacks from JC Whitney.
The welds ain't pretty, and it doesn't sound 'Healey,' but it don't
sound bad (people think I have a V8 under the bonnet).
