[Healeys] USPS

I don't doubt the marvel of how they can send a letter so cheaply from one
place to the next, but I've had some pretty unacceptable parcel shipment
issues with them, my most recent example of a small parcel taking a month
to travel from Florida to Hong Kong because it went USPS.

I have run alot of businesses, and FedEx, etc., would never let packages
sit anywhere that long because it actually costs them more money to keep it
stored somewhere safe rather than just moving it to its final destination.
It's a reflection of significant inefficiencies in their systems, something
that private companies have no acceptance for.

To make things worse I find DHL to be just as good as FedEx in most
respects... DHL is Deutche Post so why is it that the German Post office
has no problems competing but the USPS can't hack it? It may have
something to do with the reality that USPS signed that poor agreement that
subsidizes Amazon.com. Yes I know Deutche Post is probably funded by the
German government, but even with that they have risen above the natural
result of being a bumbling befuddled bureaucracy to be directly competitive
to FedEx. Certainly the USPS with decent management would be able to
compete on the same level, especially with their inherent and paid for
Point to Point infrastructure.
