Please explain the e mail set up on this site. Why do you repeat the same e mail over and over?I find myself reading an e mail I’ve already read many times. Great forum but just have the one question and the answers below it. Perhaps I’m overlooking some reason so forgive if I’m off base.
Cheers,

G’day Ray

>From my experience throughout the world people complain about their local postal systems, after all what could be simpler that placing a sheet of paper in an envelope and asking someone to take it from A to B?

However I wonder if the world’s postal systems could have foreseen the massive increase in online shopping due to Covid.

Here in Australia, the use of online shopping has skyrocketed beyond all expectations.

I am located in the mountains NW of Sydney and the city/environs (including us) has been in lockdown since mid-June and it will last to the end of September at least.

Our household is just one small example and we have bought garden rakes to coffee to medications all online. At the moment we are waiting for fabric from the US, China and the UK; plants/seeds from within Australia; Austin-Healey parts from within Australia; Healey parts from the UK; plastic models from China; bedding from within Australia; garden implements from the UK; books from the UK; and, screws/nuts/bolts from within Australia.

Australia Post is lifting its game and parcels are arriving quicker than normal mail (letters). Parcels are also delivered six days a week, while post is Monday to Friday.

One of the places we buy fabric is from an outlet in South Carolina and it’s always interesting to watch how the parcel is tracked through the USPS system as it too is getting faster. Although there are some places in the US where the parcel seems to sit for an inordinate amount of time. Then instead of a parcel coming direct from the US to Australia, it may go via Tokyo, Hong Kong or Singapore. As there are no aircraft carrying tourists coming to Australia, air traffic has dropped considerably and air cargo flights are increasingly being relied upon.

Yes give the postal systems some slack as it is a difficult time.

Indeed.  I have previously sung the praises of the USPS to whomever would listen, and in fact have slipped over the border to post a package from the US, to meet a deadline, ...........................BUT, as I stated in my original post, the villain of this particular piece appears to be the U.S. Customs Service with the added aggravation of no reason given - according to the vendor - for the rejected parcel!

A while back, I issued a request for advice on how to fix a soft pedal
on my BN2 after replacing several cylinders and some shoes. I'd
pressure-bled them, which has always worked well for me before, but when
I got a good pedal it would go soft after some time and/or a bit of
driving. A lister suggested a method he'd seen work before: hold
pressure on the pedal with a board/weight/etc. for a few hours or days.
In desperation, I put a board on the depressed pedal and 'staked' it on
the driver side seat pan. As (bad) luck would have it, I had to deal
with my mother's dementia and place her in memory care, and my landlord
evicted us--he's selling--and we started a complete remodel of her house
before we moved in. So, no time or energy to work on the car for a
couple months--plus a heat wave that made it uncomfortable to work in
the garage--but when I finally got back on the car a couple days ago, I
had a good pedal, that seems to persist. Needless to say, I'm happy
about this, but a bit curious why this worked; my guess is the pressure
on the fluid causes any air in the fluid to form bubbles, which
gradually migrate back into the reservoir. Another (remote) possibility
is the brake fluid causes some swelling in the seals, allowing them to
seal better (though I've not seen any evidence of leaks).

Anyway, thanks to the person who suggested this; now on to other issues.

Bob

"From my experience throughout the world people complain about their local postal systems, after all what could be simpler than placing a sheet of paper in an envelope and asking someone to take it from A to B?"--------------------------------------------------Points A and B might be 3,000 miles apart located in god knows what kinds of locales and climes.I'm simply saying that getting this done in a couple of days for $0.55 is still a pretty good deal, even if they do get it wrong once in a while.

Best--MichaelI am working on the brakes of a BN6 and when I took it apart I was a bit
surprised that the bleed nipple on for the wheel cylinders is on the
bottom of the rear cylinder, which is also lower than the front one.  Is
this correct?  I did compare the new cylinders to the old ones and they
are the same with the same wheel cylinder used front and rear at each
wheel.  Every car I have worked on has the bleeder at the highest point
to allow the air to rise to the top when bleeding.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, does anyone have a photo of the front shroud brace of a factory 100M showing it bent to make room for the cold air box without air hose blocking it?

Also a photo of the the adapting bracket would help.

Thanks,

Randy
