[Healeys] BN1 or BN2

I think that all the 100Ss used the BN1 front wings.

I'm fairly certain that there was not a carry over of the old front guards on the BN2.
I will say that at a west coast meet many years ago, the judges in Concours where having a hard time trying to figure out why a 100 was sitting so oddly in the grass field. A view of each side of the car seemed to suggest a bent frame or something unusual. The owner had paid big bucks and lots of time to have the car restored so things should have been on track for a high point car.
After some (plenty) discussion it was a decided that an otherwise Gold level car had an early guard on one side and the later BN2 guard on the other side. Needless to say there were a few points deducted and a very dejected owner....
At every car event I attend since then, I walk around the 100's in attendance and compare the front guards with the span of my hand..

Perry--

Yes, I forgot that the presence or not of the sledge line is not a reliable indicator

I wonder if any BN2's were built with the BN1 style front fender--with the smaller wheel opening and lower sledge? is the location of the OD and ignition/OD switches more reliable an indicator?

Brian--

My 12/54 car #222333 is definitely a BN1 so if the s/n you have is accurate it should unquestionably be a BN1.
There are a number of points of differentiation between the two models, some of which would be rather expensive to fudge from an earlier BN1 to a BN2--is there a swedge line in the rear fenders?

Further to the questions on the disc brake conversion, there is now a bit of confusion about what model this 100 is.
The VIN appears to be B222066. The question is – is it a BN1 or a BN2. Unfortunately there have been some modifications to the car in it’s earlier years which really cloud it’s true model.
