I'm looking to buy a 100 chassis and a later 100 4 speed gearbox. Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks.

I dribbled a solvent sparingly (acetone or 3M adhesive remover, I forget which -- or maybe both) around the edges of the glass. Eventually the bond released.

Hi Tom,

What you have encountered is not uncommon. The manufacturers seemed to use an adhesive of some sort to secure the rim and the glass in position and it dries out and becomes very hard.

I would recommend putting the 2 small screws back in as the mechanism does not have to come out at this stage.

You have to very gently pry the glass and inner rim, which is under the glass to get it out.

You need to get a blade under the edge of the inner rim to avoid chipping the glass.

As I recall there is a slot in the case that you can use as a starting point.

Take your time and gently work away at it ... it will move eventually.

Hi everyone,

I have some white dust inside the BJ8 tach that I'd like to clean up. I found disassembly instruction on John Simm's site. After removing the trim ring, and undoing the two screws holding the mechanism to the case, the glass face is firmly stuck to the case.

If I can pop the glass face off, I can easily clean it with a can of compressed air. But the glass face is stuck, and I don't want to break something. Anyone have any ideas how to do this?

thanks again,

Tom
