[Healeys] Fender Screws

Rear wing (I think that is fender in American) is fastened to B pillar by sixteen (eight each side) No 10 UNF x ½” countersunk pozi screws, with plain washer, spring washer and nut on the back.

Rear wing is fastened to the sill by four (two each side) No 10 UNF x 5/8” pan head pozi screws, with the same hardware on the back.

All wing screws fastening into spring nuts are the special ACME thread ones. However there are three ¼” UNF bolts in the forward three top wing holes, all inserted from under the wing. One of these (the front one) is screwed into a tapped plate. The others on my car (BJ7) are screwed into captive nuts welded to the inner wing. BJ7 & BJ8 need this captive nut since the drainage channel makes this area inaccessible. However earlier cars may use nuts and washers since access is better.

Front wings have ACME thread bolts in all spring nuts, which are all holes in the top and front wing flanges, but shorter ones in the holes under the headlamp. Front wings are attached to the sills by three ¼” UNF X ¾” long bolts each side, with nuts and spring and plain washers inside.

The front wings are secured to the A pillars by the appropriate number of No 6 x 3/8” long self tappers.

Hope this helps

Can someone please tell me what fasteners or combination of fasteners are used to attach the rear fender to the B-pillar? The body shop fitted the fenders to my car after painting with a minimal (and I am sure incorrect) number of screws/bolts, nuts and washers. Just enough to hold them in place. None are together at the bottom flanges and I don't see any in either the front or rear pillars. In fact I think there are fasteners missing for the shrouds, but never having assembled a big Healey I can not be sure of anything. Nothing real specific about fasteners in Roger Moments book. maybe if I had taken it apart for the restoration, but it did not have all the fenders and the ones it did have were hardly attached.
