[Healeys] That Elusive Screw

Mike,

David is correct. The original "locking" screws were a no. 6 left hand
thread slotted chrome screw. These along with the proper "D" through bolts
were first made up by the Late Daryl White years ago and more recently
Roger Moment has been making just the screws from stainless steel.

This is all well and good as long as the "D" bolt is tapped for the no. 6
left hand screw, and there in lies the problem, some of the aftermarket "D"
bolts are not!

I have both the ones made by Daryl White and I also took my original "D"
bolts and had the broken shaft of the no. 6 screw removed professionally
and the threads cleaned up with the proper left handed tap.

See photos.

Cheer,
