[Healeys] Rear axle gasket question

Soaking in water is not a good idea in my opinion. Reason?: corrosion in 
the crevices around the flange, bearing etc. The water wil not dry out 
for a long time.
I prefer using thin oil, WD40, 3 in 1, sewing machine oil etc. It will 
slightly swell the paper, makes it pliant, prevents sticking and 
prevents corrosion.
