[Healeys] miss

We are starting to see a lot of miss fires and lack of power at steady high
rpms. If it is miss firing and spitting back thru the carbs then you may be
running lean due to the Ethanol in the gas.

With 10% Ethanol we are starting to see more and more problem with
performance. Lean miss fires, hard starting cold and having to leave the
choke out for a long time, engine temp higher that normal.

These all point to the Ethanol which is causing the mixture to lean out
under load. You cant just richen up the mixture because then it will be to
rich at idle. What you may need to do is change to rich needles.

Then if the government in their wisdom changes to E20 we are going to have
some real problems.

Some of the other issues that are coming up now with the Ethanol.
    Rubber hoses going bad
Zinc Oxide developing in the carbs causing the aluminium to corrode
Water getting into the system because the Ethanol is alcohol and it
absorbs it out of the air
Ethanol is also a cleaner so it flushes out the fuel system and then
deposits all the scum that is in the system into the filters and pump

You say you checked the wires. Was that the primary wiring or the HV
secondary?

I have had high end misses that were the result of defective HV wiring. I've
seen elusive rust hiding under sparking plug caps, bad wire cores, etc.

Tractor Supply sells a great $20 kit of HV wiring for 6 cylinder cars. If
you're not a stickler for originality, this installation is a good way to
ensure your high voltage system is not the culprit. Tractor Supply's wire is
copper core!
