Hi John,

Originally there was a tiny, I mean TINY, leather washer installed between the end of the copper tube and the gauge.

In my experience installing the copper line to the gauge without this washer often results in a very slow leak which will do little enhance your decorum or improve your demeanor should you use your Healey to drive to your son's wedding.

I am in the process of replacing my safety gauge on my BJ8 after it was
rebuilt due to a sticking oil pressure needle: Is it necessary to use some
sort of thread sealant on the fastener that holds the capillary tube in
place?? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John
