[Healeys] Master Cyl - thoughts

There's a lot of info online about aluminum master cylinders - auto shop
class manuals and the like.

What I read recently was: new anodizing is sort of gray. Some wear will show
as more polished and that is still good.

Longitudinal scratches not good, especially if you can feel them with your
finger.

A used anodized cylinder without scratches is suitable for a rebuild kit.

Also new ones are inexpensive - why would you hone anyway?

Nowhere does anyone say honing aluminum master cylinders is good, especially
considering the low cost of new cylinders.

I wonder if that mechanic years ago was saying genuine Girling master
cylinders are crap or was he talking about some aftermarket cylinders of
dubious origin.

Not intending to start a flame war.
