Watch the rocker arms, when any two on a given cylinder are rocking, that is
one moving up and one moving down, find the spot where they are more or less
equal and at that point the other cylinder with the piston in the same
position will be on compression and those two valve can be adjusted
simultaneously. So on the 100, cylinder 1&4 and 2&3 pistons move similarly.
For example, (using 1,3,4,2 firing order). If the valves on # 2 are rocking,
then adjust valves on #3, move the car ahead (in 4th gear), since #4 fires
next, the valves on # 1 will rock next, adj. #4.. and so on.

Subject: [Healeys] Sequence for setting BN1 valve rockers
Hi listers
can anyone help with the short cut valve adjusting sequence for the four
cylinder Healey so that you don't have to hand turn the engine lots of
times to set the tappets? A mate gave me the sequence for the six which
I found very helpful in setting the tappets on my BJ8, I think it's
related to the firing order but I'm not smart enough to work it out
thanks
