Mike,
Heat and wax could work. I've used this method with some success, but I'm not sure a propane would do the trick. The wax has to be drawn into the threads by the heat. I wouldn't waste too much time and effort on it though. If you plan on taking it to a machine shop, let them deal with it. Believe me, it would be worth the few bucks. Even if just for the stud removal. I've broken a few stud extractors removing these studs and burned a lot of energy during the tear down of 11 TR engines that I recently acquired.
BTW, most of the blocks I've seen that have their original black paint, have TR 3 or 4 painted on the side. Of course the engine number prefix also designates a 3 or 4 engine. TS for a 3 and CT for a 4.
Dave

Subject: [Fot] TR4 Spare block
I am having trouble removing a couple of the head studs from block, been soaking them for days with PB Blaster. Any recommendations on how to get them out. I don’t think my propane torch would generate enough heat to do any good.
Also, after cleaning spare block I found “TR 3” painted in red on side. I believe this was done by factory. Does this make my block really valuable and I can sell it and cover cost of my go-fast parts?????
Thanks, Mike
