[Fot] Damn Headers (Again)

Headers are a real problem for our 4 banger TRs.
No one makes a quality unit with a good fit in the U.S.
Most hang way below the frame.
A one piece flange is best and most are 3 piece, which makes port matching difficult.
I tried to buy a "tuned", equal length primaries header from Stahl.
I made, as he asked, an exact template of my ports and sent it to him. He said he'd make the flange from the template.
The flange he sent to test fit from my template wasn't even close. Not even close. He said his guy must have pulled one off the shelf.
I tried two other companies and sent them both back.
One was a single flange and needed a lot of grinding to make the ports match as well as the studs line up, but hung at least an inch and a half below the frame of my car. Nothing else hangs below the frame on my car.
In the end, a friend found a 35 year old NOS 4 into 1 header that was sitting in someone's garage.
I cut the collector off and welded on a good 2.25" slip fit collector.
Damn Headers!
Good luck,
Dave H.

I wish I could remember who it was that was telling me this and who it was that bought it from Stahl .....hopefully someone will chime in ......someone with a better memory then me :)

He quoted me about $600 and I let him have the Stahl headers and car with instructions to make some with basic design of the Stahl headers that would fit. When done the price was 2.5 times the quote, nowhere near the design of the Stahls and showed shoddy workmanship. Don't go there! Only good part on the was the correct size flange I got from Mordy Dunst.

However found these; http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RF4075. Has anyone used them or have an opinion? I'd be tempted to try Ken Gillander's headers but he is indisposed at this time.
