[Roadsters] Shaking Engine

Hi Gerry,
Like others said... go thru the basics first.
A shaking engine, ruling out balance issues, can be from a power
imbalance between cylinders. I'd make sure your mechanic has done the
basics: besides for basic tuneup and ruling out misfires (a wonky
distributor - including worn or misgapped points or a bent shaft - can
play havoc). Check the dwell; if you have access to one put it on an
ignition 'scope and check spark plug firing voltages; check the
timing; do a hot compression check. Check the valve clearances. If
you're still running smog timing (0 degrees) that's a whole 'nother
discussion.
Don't totally rule out bad engine mounts. 4 bangers do bounce around a
bit all on their own, and bad mounts don't help.
And check the dashpot oil in the carbs. It could be as simple as that.
