[Roadsters] Shaking Engine

Do not forget the choke. the SU's are prone to sticking choke in the down
position (stored cars evaporate gas and the residue is gummy especially with
modern ETOH containing blends)
letting too much gas in when the car warms. This leads to rough idle when
running warm .
The timing chain seems to me to be very unlikely. They make a large racket
before they affect the engine's running then it manifest it in surging as
the timing advances and retards due to the slack in the timing chain.
Usually this surging is related to the tensioner rather than the chain it's
self.
As John says try to keep to the basics.
