[Roadsters] drain back tube (was "oil, fuel, air filters")

Early engines had a tube to prevent oil draining back, thus keeping the
filter full to provide oil when first starting the eninge. Part of Item #6:

You don't need that tube w/ modern filters that contain a check valve that
provides the same functionality.

I've been using a K&N oil filter. I just noticed on the 311s tech section
it says it works on the roadsters with the drain back tube removed. What
does that mean? Is the drain back tube on the car or on the filter?
I just screwed it on. Should I have removed something first?
