[Roadsters] Might as well... Smart upgrades while the engine and trans are out?

Having done something similar

Coming from a 70 redo so somethings may be different.

Definitely freshen up engine compartment, things like the water bottle,
radiator mount bars, air dam, rear tranny mount bracket, drive shaft and
u joint, diff, horns, grill backing plate,. Use aluminum foil to mask
areas -

Generally clean and degrease front suspension, check zerks, clean and
grease

Check compression plate, might as well replace the clutch, check
throwout bearing, definitely what ever seals you can get to.

Get urethane bushings for the front sway bar. Replace ANY hoses that
cannot be easily accessible when engine is in. on the 70 there are two
little 2-3 inch hoses that require removing the intake manifold to
replace.

Replace the throttle cable, install a 2nd hood release, make sure all
grounds are SOLID, install upgraded alt if appropriate

rebuild water pump ??

shrink tube exposed unsightly joins

check on the 5th gear - have it welded??

For me I figure that while I am there, get it done, get it solid and hopefully
never have to do it again.

Cheers

Peter
