FYI:

Graphite on the cable. DO NOT OIL OR GREASE.

And, from The Man himself:

Glad to hear you are happy with the work. The only thing I can suggest is
that you make sure your "inner cable" (The part that drives the speedo) does
not bottom out inside the gauge while you are tightening the cable. I've
only seen it happen a few times and in that instance it will wear out your
speedo in a very short time. You may even consider not cranking the threads
all the way down just in case.
