Greg,         Do not use grease on the cable.......  I did did this, before
inquiring.
I had the car on a lift, removed the cable at the trans, & put a libiral amt.
of grease on the cable & reinstalled it.    About ( 2 ) wks later I had grease
in my Speedo housing.
Jon Frampton saved my  ( A )     I also had to flush the cable housing & start
over
with graphite on the cable !!  The cable acted like an Auger & moved the
grease to the speedo housing.    Herb Petty.   :-(
