I'm no Dan Masters, but I've always found the most likely culprit is not getting a solid ground from the horn button, especially if it works sometimes, when wiggling the wheel, etc. You can connect the purple/black wire as the negative end of a test light to check. All the little stuff inside the steering wheel must be just right. The steering column itself must have a solid ground (to send to the relay via the button). Check the ground wire that goes thru/around the steering column rubber coupling and the ground wire that connects to the steering gear box.

Mine 'self blows' when I'm hard cornering, which always makes my wife laugh. Yea, I know that problem comes from inside the wheel/button. Someday..

I have found that the horns themselves stop working. New, Italian-mate horns are available at the local parts stores for around $10 each. But check them out first.

A newbie question from a 31-year 1976 TR6 owner – Where’s the horn relay? Horn is working only very occasionally and I figure the easiest first thing to look at is the contacts on the relay. I’ve included a picture of the fuse box area and a few of the relays – which one is the horn or is it somewhere else? I have Dan Master’s book so if it’s not the relay, I know where to go next. Thanks. Dennis Culligan, Highland, NY
