Yes, you can get in there through the ashtray opening, as long as your hands
aren't too big. You can reach into the opening, turn the little thumbscrews
that hold the gauge bracket and remove all of those pieces through the
opening, then pull the gauge forward and out of the dash to access the oil
line. I used this technique to install the stainless line that I got from
Ted Schumacher. I also used some heat shrink tubing to cover the stainless
hose where it passed under the dash so that it wouldn't abraid any wires it
might come in contact with. Turned out to be a simple task through the
ashtray opening.
