I think the 65 GT350 started the "no-back-seat" = sports car concept.
That is why in 1966 Shelby couldn't us the GT350 in Trans Am, since
it wasn't a sedan...... so they used Mustang notchbacks instead..
Ahh, yes, rules is rules......
  
And then lots of 911s ran in Trans Am "sedan" races.....
