Which is a shame because the Arnolt-Bristol dominated their class in the
early 1950s. For example Arnolt-Bristols took the first 11 places (out of 25
cars) in the first E and F Production race at VIR in 1957. Ed Welch won and
Augie Pabst was fourth. Out of the 25 car grid, twelve Arnolt-Bristols were
entered and the slowest one finished 14th. E & F Production included MGs,
Morgan, Porsche and TR-3s. The next E & F Production race at VIR the
Arnolt-Bristols took the first 8 places. Pretty impressive for a car that
was already over 3 years old, using an engine that was a pre-war BMW design.
There is no reason for an Arnolt-Bristol to be a back-maker if the cars are
period prepared.
