I never cease to be amazed at the intellectual caliber of vintage racers
and surprise, surprise, one of them is Don Queen. The 5th definition
obviously is the correct one hence so many Corinthian Yacht Clubs around
the world. I am sure the key is the word "amateur" meaning "not in it
for money." At least that used to be the definition. Of course an
argument could be made for number 2. So if we combine #2 and #5 we have
someone who is a happy spendthrift racing his boat (or in this case,
car) with no expectation of any monetary gain. Obviously this must be
someone who does it for the "love of the sport" which is my definition
of Corinthian.
