This is a wonderful thread with a lot of good points and discussions. My
personal beliefs are in agreement with the man who put it beautifully and
succinctly: "Hard charging and 10/10 at a vintage race is like using real
bullets in a Civil War reenactment." (Not an exact quote, sorry.)
However, in addition to the main point of the thread there has been a lot
of "dissing" of Steve. I have been with HMSA for almost ten years; I've
generally understood the rules, and I've always had a good time. However a
couple of years ago we had a disagreement over tires. He had a show to put
on, but he spent more time with one minor participant than I would have if
I had been in his place. We spent a lot of time talking and studying
historical accuracy. I got a very fair trial before he hung me. I didn't
get leniency, but I did get justice. I have no complaints.
Keep the shiney side up,
Richard Ruff
