The real Ford GT-40 Mark IIs had a Ford 289 V-8 and a ZF 5DS 25 transaxle. I
am pretty sure the Safir has neither, so I would say the Safir also may be
externally similar, but internally it is not.
Probably the best indication of whether it is a continuation car is whether
it can be called a "Ford GT-40 Mark V" -- if not, then isn't it a high
quality replicar?
