A quick status report-
Well, Watkins Glen has started out with it's usual early taste of fall weather.
The good news is that today was the wet one, tomorrow will be cold, and it's
uphill from there. I predict record crowds for the Grand Prix festival, and
probably the best turnout at the track in a few years.
After a long dearth from Watkins, Bugeye's have sprung forth- there are 5
registerd, at least 4 of them are there now. Gary Specman of Team Thicko found
his way, and is paddocked next to me along with a large group of group one
cars. Group one may have to be out at about 8:00 early every day, but
that will give us more time to get into trouble...
There are about two dozen Can Am cars registered, and this time there will be
better racing weather for them. Last Can Am reunion got fairly rained out on
race day.
Interesting new sightings so far:
-A 50's California dirt track racer, "Go Kart", reportedly was very fast at
Montery.
-A Gilbern GT - first one I've seen at the track- bright yellow, and I'm not
yet sure if it's got a 1622 or 1798 engine.
Time to go, my alarm goes off early in the morning.
