Can anyone help me with some "vintage info" please?
I am completing a restoration/update on a 1600 roadster (SPL-311-17292) and
have it's SCCA log book showing race activity from 1972-1977 and then one
race in 1985.
All the racing was done by the original owner. The car sat in a garage from
1977-1985 and then again from 1985-1990 when I purchased it.
I went to two drivers schools in 1990, and did a bit of autocrossing in 1990
and 1991, and then put the car in my barn.
This winter I "restored" the car including engine rebuild and balance, new
clutch, new brakes, roll cage, fuel cell, fire system, accusump, wheels,
tires, shocks, sway bars, etc. with all efforts towards safety, reliability
and original looks/performance. The body is original- all metal- with a BRE
paint scheme. I am very excited to run at the regional at Watkins in 10 days!
Now------after that history-----sorry!!!!
The original photos show the car in FP. The car had run at least once in GP
when I bought it (which means at least the race it ran in 1985) and the
current SCCA rules show it in GP as do the 1989 rules. SVRA lists it in FP.
Does anyone know when the 1600 Datsun SPL was switched from FP to GP ????? I
assume this was when classes were consolidated and some classes were
eliminated.
I would really appreciate any incite. Thanks in advance for your help.
