Jim,

The original bill is dead. SB708 has been changed to a bill that would
allow counties to combine random drunk driver checkpoints with vehicle
equipment (emission) checks. Its still a little "big brotherish", but not
as onerous as the original bill.

I was under the impression that the California SB 708, was dead! I was very
surprised to receive this from my old Navy buddy, Buster Evans from southern
California!

PS: I wanted to CC Rick Feibush, but I have lost his address. If any of you
know his email address, please forward to him and of course any one else
that is interested in defeating SB 708!!

It has passed out of the Transportation Committee and referred to the
Judiciary Committee for another hearing! You would think they had something
better to do. Hmmm. They do. They just don't want to do their job!!!!
