Yes.

Do it yourself.
Have the place built as open studs.
Wire the place with a zillion outlets four feet from the floor and a zillion
socket/outlets in the ceiling. They are cheap, and you can use them any way
you want later.
Buy fiberglass insulation and staple it up to walls and between joists.
Get a couple of rolls of heavy clear plastic (it is easier to see what you
are doing) and staple it all over the walls and ceiling.
Rent a drywall lift for about 25 bucks.
Buy sheetrock or hardboard and cover walls and ceiling.
(I did the whole ceiling in my shop by myself in one day using a lift).

I daresay you will get a better job and it will all cost much less than 900
bucks.

I don't like to climb ladders outside and sure don't like walking on roofs,
so I paid the contractor to do the expansion and outside finishing. But the
wiring, insulation and inside wall work was easy.

Once you have it, you will see there is only one downside: All the junk you
used to store in the interstud spaces and over the joists!

The shop will be much quieter, and temperature extremes will be smoothed
out. At my place, in the summer, the insulated shop is often MUCH cooler
than the uninsulated garage.
