Patrick,

It helps to have a parts wash basin but you don't absolutely need one.....the 
outside of the carbs will come up very nicely with some scrubbing from 0000 
or 00000 steel wool wet with solvent/degreaser.  Don't get too crazy with the 
steel wool around the carb throats to avoid any fine fragments from getting 
into orifices, etc.  It helps, if you have shop air, to blow out your work 
often - again to keep any particles away from jet seats, etc.

Next, if you really want to get a concours look, take a cone polishing tip 
attached to a dremel tool and some fine polishing compound (for aluminum - 
Eastwood sells this stuff) and go to town polishing every little crevice.

The final step is a light spray of clear coat (something like Eastwood's 
Diamond Clear.....I really don't have any stock with Eastwood....their stuff 
works but I'm sure other products work well too).  And there you have 
it.....just like they came out of the box:)
