Likely it was "factory" or "factory-authorized replacement." There were some 
markets (France, for example?) that required a see-through fluid reservoir. Of 
course, that screw-on extender also increased the capacity of the reservoir. 
Those are not too common, though, in the US. Here, we tended to see a different 
casting; the cylinder itself was the same, but the reservoir is perhaps an inch 
or so taller.
