I had a call today from a British lady who has had the unfortunate situation
of having an oil change done on her Stag while visiting here in Florida.
Unfortunately, the mechanic failed to remove the rubber sealing gasket on
the canister filter, and installed a new one over the old. Anyone who has
accidently done this, knows it results in a massive oil leak. The problem
was not noticed until 100 miles later when, you guessed it, the car ran out
of oil and started smoking badly. Now, she is stuck in Daytona Beach, FL
with a mechanic that says, "What do you want? It' s an old car".
SO, does anyone know someone competent to work on a Stag in the Daytona
Beach area? Also, she says she lives in Huntsville, TX and will need the
name of a good mechanic there should she end up having to ship the car back
($$$).
Any input will be forwarded to this poor lady while she awaits the DPM
deciding what he is going to do about the whole mess.
