Oil filter removal

What's all this about using screwdrivers to free off filters? With
spin-ons, all you need is to smear oil on the filter sealing ring,
spin-on until the sealing ring just kisses the adaptor or block face
and then tighten a further 1/4 or 1/2 turn. It'll come off with a firm
hand grip the next time you change  and there won't have been any
leaks in the meantime. My filter tourniquet has to be the most unused
tool on my toolboard.
