This is not exactly on the point of where current Lucas parts are made but
it may be an interesting side note...
I agree that the parts on the web-site you linked to seem to be pricey, but
from what I have encountered most NOS Lucas parts are. When I refer to NOS
I mean Lucas parts the in the maroon coloured boxes from the sixties that
have been sitting on a shelf for 40 odd years.
I bought one such O/D switch for my TR4, it was not cheap but the kick out
of getting a 'real' NOS 40 year old switch in mint condition is worth it,
especially since a 'modern' NOS Lucas part costs so much anyway.
The 40 year old NOS Lucas stuff still pops up on places like Ebay and swap
meets, which is not as convenient as ordering it from the web. It takes
some hunting to find the real thing but some people seem to have small
collections of 40 year old NOS Lucas parts (like the guy who recently listed
a whole lot of them on the VTR site). Some parts suppliers have this stuff
sitting on shelves, sometimes...
Even the second hand Lucas parts are getting pricey, I was at a swap meet on
Sunday and was shocked at how much people wanted for period Lucas fog/spot
lamps that were in very rough condition. Hence I have a new rule, if I see
a NOS Lucas part for a Triumph in a 60s period box I buy it- they are only
going to get rarer...
