My understanding of the reason for connecting the manifolds is, as others
have said, improved cold start driveability. If that is not important to
you, I don't see any harm in doing away with it.
BUT, if your search for more power some day leads to you buying a Judson
supercharger, trust me, you WILL need those supports!!!
