For almost all applications of plastic controls, engraved type with colored 
fill in the engraving for lettering:  Clean them up & then re-fill the 
engraving with a shellac stick from an electronics store (a "real" 
electronics store, not Radio Shack).  Shellac sticks come in various colors; 
white would be the appropriate color here, of course.

If it's one of those rocker headlight switches with a white decal for 
labelling, this won't work.  You'll need a new decal, I suppose.
