I also have a TR3A with the 4.11 gears, overdrive, and proper speedo,
etc. I have the 87 mm liners and the TR3 non-synchro-1st gearbox. 1st
gear is fairly useless, but I found that the next 6 gears (w/ and w/o
overdrive) are just fine.

Years ago, I also had a TR4 with the 4.11 gears but it did NOT have
overdrive from the factory. Go figure. It was definitely buzzy at
highway speeds, but it was fun to dump into the synchro-1st and peel
away!!
