Do I need dust boots for IRS u-joints?

I'm aware that TR250's and TR6's came with dust boots (or covers) to protect
the u-joints that lead outward on either side of the differential.  I think
they were not used on TR4A's.  Should I retrofit a pair?  It's never seemed to
me an area that's in particular need of a dust boot.
