According to Halliday & Resnick's "Physics II"

"1 U. S. fluid gallon = 4 U. S. quarts = 8 U. S. pints = 128 U. S. fluid
ounces = 231 inches cubed."

"1 British imperial gallon = the volume of 10 lb of water at 62 degrees F =
277.42 inches cubed."

Where did you get 270 ci?
