Jon,
The five threaded holes are for bolting the rear stiffener that
attaches your soft top to the body (see page 460 of your Roadster
Factory Parts Catalogue). The top itself has, or should have 7 male
snaps for attaching the boot cover or tonneau (see page 462 of your TRF
Parts Catalogue).
I haven't bought a soft top in years, but the ones I bought from TRF
had the black plastic male and female snaps installed. The original tops
had white male snaps to match the white reflective strips, but to my
knowledge they are no longer available. If yours didn't come with the
snaps, install the top, lower it, fit the boot cover or tonneau, and rub
some chalk or other washable marking to the female snaps on the
cover/tonneau to locate where the 7 male snaps should be installed on
the soft top. Start with the center snap, located in front of the gas
cap and work each side out equally.
A word of caution; if your boot cover and tonneau have plastic snaps, I
encourage you to install plastic snaps to the top and body of the car as
original, or replace the boot cover/tonneau with metal snaps. The male
metal snaps are a little larger in diameter and a different
configuration and can destroy the female plastic snaps.
Hope this helps,
Jim Davis
