Friends,
do You realize that's only some 34mph/55kph faster than the 140mph/
225kph the 1147cc, 7300rpm, DCOE45 Weber equipped Le Mans Spitfires
did on the Mulsanne in 1965!!!
OK, the TR8 is heavier [the Spits where 1520lb/690kg at pre-race
scrutineering] but the displacement of the engine is 3 times larger
- and the twin turbos to that!
[And You don't find any straights longer than the Mulsanne... Should
be the Muroc lake, maybe... ;-) ]
Harry Webster and his team must have been dead on with those small
Spitfires...
