Try turning the rotor by hand while tightening the bearing nut (with the
other hand). Last time I did bearings I did not use a wrench on the
socket, just my fist. Did them up until there was resistance and backed
them off to the nearest point where I could install a cotter pin.
Turning the rotor will let the bearings bed properly, I think... which
sounds like what they're not doing.
Wheels have not fallen off the 'vette yet, but then, if they do, I'm out
ten, maybe fifteen dollars ;-)
