OD Gear shift Knob

I need to remove the Gear Stick Knob from my Spit.  It has the OD switch
as part of the knob. Is it just a matter of popping off the cover,
removing the switch and unscrewing the knob, or am I missing something? 
My manuals aren't clear.  thanks, Chris
