That reminds me - I promised Dan I'd find out what kind of brakes I uprated
my TR7 with.

I was looking at them yesterday (found out where my brake fluid is going:
LHS outer piston seal). The rotors say "G 1770" on the inner side. The
calipers say "Girlock", and something illegible. The discs are 9.5" to 10"
diameter (hard to do with a tape measure, and I only just thought of using
string). Apparently, these brakes were used on several Ford models,
including Escorts and maybe Capris. The pipe fitting is not the same as the
TR7, so I had to get new copper pipes made, with approriate fittings ($20).
Also, the TR7 dust shield cannot be used with the bigger discs.

I also have hybrid road/race pads called (I think) "Black Flash". I use my
brakes hard, and they've still got about 1/4" of meat on them after 2.5
years of daily driving.

I'll be getting a caliper kit and probably turning the discs, after my next
payday, so I'll be able to provide part numbers, at that time.
