  Dan,

A few ideas come to mind.
1) Install(?) new engine oil
2) Remove spark plugs, spray some lightweight oil into the bores
    leave the plugs out
3) Remove the valve cover, and pour some engine oil over the rocker
shaft, upper ends of the valves & valve springs, and down the push-
rod tubes (to lubricate the lifters & cam lobes). You shouldn't use
more than 1/2 of a quart here.
4) Crank the engine over until suffiecient oil pressure shows on the guage.
5) Put the plugs back in and pray she runs

                                                JOE IV
                                                TR 250
                                          WALLINGFORD, CT. USA

PS. This is presuming you've already made sure the water pump & alternator
aren't seized, and you've thoroughly cleaned out the carbs.....
