Peter,

  All you have to do is remove the coupler thing from the end
of the hose or pipe (but a pipe won't really work, you'll see) of
your grease gun.  Then remove the plug from the steering box.
   You'll notice the grease hose is the same thread  as the plug.
Thread the grease gun hose directly into the steering box (this is
where the pipe gun set-ups aren't really so good).
  Give five good pumps, unscrew the hose, put the "all-important,
original" plug back in, and you're good for another 12,000 miles.
  Oh yeah, don't forget to put the coupler end back on the hose.
Now you're done.
