Hi All,

I feel compelled to provide the following:

1. Racing fuel cells come in various types. The external contruction can be
plastic or metal, the metal units can be steel or even aluminium.
2. They are not all baffeled, and they do not all have foam.
3. Most have a bladder and most have foam, but not all.
4. The foam and bladder are there to prevent rapid loss of fuel in the
event that the tank gets punctured or otherwise compromised.
5. Most racing organizations require a one-way filler valve so that if the
car gets upside-down, the fuel does not drain from the hole that is in all
fuel tanks, the filler hole.
6. If you want to buy a cell, make sure you buy something that is
compatible with the rules governing body that you intend to compete with.
7. Cost is a function of the external construction material, the type of
bladder and the type of foam as well as the capacity of the tank.

Also, figure the dimensions of the tank to be bigger in order to hold an
equal amount of fuel (because of the volume displaced by the foam).

that is all.

Oh, you can pay from $$ to $$$ for a racing fuel cell.

Still, there are cases where a cell might even be cheaper and more reliable
than a replacement steel tank, and rust would not be an issue if you use
aluminium. However if you get a tank with foam, keep in mind that the foam
has a limited life and it may need to be replaced periodically.

See ya,
rml
